Prospect Park

"All the Leaves are Falling Down,Falling Down, Falling Down, All the leaves are falling Down, Red, Orange, Yellow, Brown." Our Trip to Prospect Park was full of adventure. Students collected: leaves, acorns, pine cones, sticks and rocks. They got to roll around in the leaves, throw them and tried to catch them. We also had a great opportunity to sit and enjoy nature by the water. We saw a steam ship cleaning the pond, ducks and birds. After the students experience their Prospect Park Adventure we went to our science lab and internalized our experience in the class. We compared and sorted the leaves; we observed size, texture and color. In our Science Lab we observed that leaves have vein's. Veins are necessary so the leaves can drink up water. Our trip was to allow students to be immersed in the season and make their own observations. Through the creations they brought home you can see the amazing ideas they came up with.
